Description
A Silver color metal and enamel device 1 7/32 inches (3.20 cm) in height overall consisting of a shield blazoned:  Argent, a cross couped Gules, on a chief wavy Vert a taeguk Azure and gray beneath a rainbow issuing from clouds Proper.

Symbolism
The chief displays the rainbow, recalling World War I service in the 42d Rainbow Division.  The taeguk is the shoulder sleeve insignia of the 29th Division, the present assignment of the 119th.  The red cross represents the units mission.

Background
The distinctive unit insignia was originally approved for the 119th Medical Regiment on 27 June 1925.  It was redesignated for the 119th Medical Battalion on 1 August 1942.  It was redesignated for the 50th Medical Armored Battalion on 21 August 1953.  The insignia was redesignated for the 50th Medical Battalion on 23 June 1961.
